Les élèves de 3ème 2 ont participé cette année à un échange virtuel avec des élèves de la California Academy of Learning Charter School, en Pennsylvanie (USA). Ils vous le racontent.

To start the project, we signed the rights to send our faces, and another paper for the video call. After that, we were assigned our pen-pals. Some people drew their faces.

We made groups of three or four and the teacher gave us a pen-pal, and then we started writing the letters. We put our photos/portraits in the envelope, after that we decorated it with stickers and we wrote our names on it, and we put our address and the Americans’. The teacher took all the letters and she sent them to America. It was very cool !

It was so exciting to receive the letters, when we got them we opened them with impatience. After opening the letters, a lot of the class was disappointed, and a lot of the class was happy*. But we got beautiful letters with pictures of them. They answered our questions.

On the 10th of March, we did a video call with the American students. We saw the similarities with the French students. They are cringe. We talked for five minutes. Some people showed their faces and some people didn't. We did "six, seven" with the Americans. They talked about their lives, their passions, their families, and what they like and dislike.

In class, we learned about the American Revolution. We started by introducing the unit. We studied a document, and played a Kahoot. Then, we went to the IT room to answer questions and write an essay. But before that, we watched a really small part of Hamilton, which is a musical about the American Revolution. With all those little activities, we learned about the revolution.

We were supposed to do another video call with the Americans, but they couldn't do it because they didn't have enough time.

We liked the video calls because we could talk to Americans and exchange with them in English. We also liked the project because we learned the story of American history.   10/10, very good!

*[note: because they didn’t get letters from the same people they wrote to]
